Roma Exhibition

Joan and Len have had the wonderful experience of mounting the first in the series of their "Essence of Australia" exhibitions.  "From Desert to Sea" was the inaugural exhibition of this Series.  The development and presentation of the approx. 50 new hanging works and in excess of 30 warm glass sculptures was a massive undertaking.

Roma has a beautiful gallery, sponsored by the Maranoa Shire Council and Santos Ltd.  It is second only to The Queensland Art Gallary.  The Cultural  Services Officer from the Maranoa Regional Council and the Roma on Bungil Gallery Committee generously supported the cause.

The liftime dream of two concurrent exhibitions was realised when the Management Committee of the Roma on Bungil Gallery invited them to mount two sole exhibitions, one complementing the other.  It was the first time that The Roma on Bungil gallery had exhibited warm glass sculptures.

The opening night was a huge success with many of the residents of Roma taking advantage of the occasion to put the recent el nino adversity behind them, for a brief period of time, to enjoy the unique exhibition in the presence of Her Excellency, The Governor of Queensland Ms Penelope Wensley AC and Mr Stuart McCosker.

Joan and Len were well supported by their close family, and friends who travelled from as far away as Townsville and the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane. Also attending was the Lord Mayor and Concillors of the Maranoa Regional Council and a Representative of  The Fellowship of The Australian Active Artists.

Unexpectedly, William Golda, aged 11yrs kindly offered to welcome the Governor of Qld with a cornet solo rendition of "Advance Australia Fair". William performed beautifully and with emotion heralded The Governor of Queensland and the inaugural exhibition of "The Essence of Australia"

Other regional galleries have expressed interest in showing the work.  Joan and Len are already formulating their ideas for a further two exhibitions this year so watch this website for any news.
